What are the benefits of sedation dentistry?
There are two chief purposes for sedation dentistry: to ease anxiety and to prepare patients for longer treatments or procedures.
Sedation dentistry also takes a few forms, from nitrous oxide (happy gas) to general anaesthesia, which renders the patient unconscious (but must be performed in a hospital setting). Right here at Pickup Significant Smiles, we offer nitrous oxide (happy gas) and local sedation for certain procedures.
Your comfort is our top priority, and we’ll be happy to sit down with you to discuss your options. Whether you’re too nervous to sit in the dental chair, or have been putting off an extensive treatment, we have sedation dentistry to help get you through.
Happy Gas
Happy Gas is administered intravenously through a vein in the arm and involves a combination of certain chemicals which leads to a relaxed and calm experience at the dentist.
Happy gas is very regulated and safe as patients can easily exhale and inhale air through their mouth for “ordinary air” and within a few breaths, the happy gas would have left the body
After the dental procedure, just breathing in pure oxygen for 3 minutes will flush out the body of the happy gas and within 20 minutes, patients can safely drive home.
Not everyone may qualify for happy gas, as it depends on the length of your procedure or the extent of your dental fear. Most surgical procedures will still use local anaesthesia as well, numbing that area of your mouth before moving forward with the treatment.

Call our friendly team and they will help you arrange an appointment. We are available 4 days per week, from 8.00 am to 5pm. On Friday we are open from 8 – 12pm.

We know it can be a daunting process, so we make sure we guide you through every step of the way and make you feel as comfortable as can be. Our team is trained to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive in our practice, additionally we also offer various means of sedation

I have to say that Dr. Zohal is simply wonderful. I definitely recommend her.
My husband has needle issues and anxiety and she was just amazing. Kind, patient and she has a special way of calming people down.
Another thing I loved is that she explains everything in detail about what will be done and why and during the procedure she tells us what she is doing at each step, giving us incredible confidence.
Not to mention her sensational team. They make us feel comfortable and safe. A special thank you to Judy for always being kind and patient and to Kelly for recommending us.

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Dr. Zohal at my local dental clinic before her departure. She demonstrated an exceptional ability in creating a comfortable atmosphere to make me feel at ease. In addition, not only was she super easy to work with, she ensured she really understood my situation and took the extra effort to provide educational insights and keep me informed about the proceedings. Dr. Zohal’s work is consistently of the highest standard.
After some years, I decided to get in contact with her again and my expectations were more than met. She generously took the time to chat with me before and after my first appointment making me feel welcomed and fostering a sense of familiarity.
What truly stood out that left the strongest impression on me was her profound respect for her staff. Watching and listening to her interact with them, her humility was readily apparent and showed that she deeply valued them and rightfully so.
